Wet Bulb Temperature
STATION COORDINATES:
Latitude: 33.66289
Longitude: -117.83017
ELEVATION: 72' above sea level
GLOSSARY:
Ceiling: The height ascribed to the lowest layer of clouds or obscuring phenomena when it is reported as broken, overcast, or obscuration and not classified as "thin" or "partial." The ceiling is termed unlimited when these conditions are not satisfied.
Cloud Base: For a given cloud or layer, the lowest level in the atmosphere at which the air contains a perceptible quantity of cloud particles.
Comfort Level: Calculates the body's reaction to heat, cold, humidity and wind chill.
Density Altitude: A term to describe how dense the atmosphere is in comparison to the International Standard Atmosphere. The datum point for ISA is 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15°C), with a pressure of 29.92 inches of mercury (1013mb) at sea level.
Heat Stress: Calculates the body's reaction to heat and humidity. High temperatures and humidity stress the body's ability to cool itself, and heat illness becomes a special concern during hot weather.
Pressure Altitude: Atmospheric or barometric pressure expressed in terms of altitude which corresponds to that pressure in the standard atmosphere.
Total Rain: Based on the California Water Year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.
TruFeel© is a computation of the air temperature, dew point, wind speed, solar radiation
and cloud cover which indicates
a general perception of the ambient temperature.
Vapor Pressure: The pressure exerted by water vapor molecules in a given volume of air.
Virtual Temperature: The temperature dry air would have if its pressure and specific volume were equal to those of a given sample of moist air. Virtual temperature allows meteorologists to use the equation of state for dry air even though moisture is present.
Wet Bulb Temperature: The lowest temperature that can be reached by the evaporation of water only. Unlike dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature is an indication of the amount of moisture in the air.
Wind Run: The total distance in miles that the air has traveled past a measuring point during a 24 hour period.
